HOW TO USE

Bright, golden, and gently bitter, organic calendula is a caffeine-free, loose-leaf bulk herb made for your daily ritual. 2oz brews approximately 15 to 20 cups of loose-leaf herbal tea, or makes a generous batch of infused oil.

Steep one to two teaspoons in 8oz of just-boiled water for 5 to 10 minutes for tea, or infuse a cup of dried calendula petals in oil over low heat for 2 to 3 hours to make a calendula-infused oil for topical use. Pairs beautifully with chamomile or lavender in a calming tea blend.

Organic calendula, has been used across many herbal traditions for centuries, prized for its bright golden color and its long history of topical and culinary use. Herbalist-sourced by Kendra, founder and herbalist of The Herbal Scoop, our bulk calendula is organic, sourced from a certified organic, kosher certified supplier, and sold in small batches from our herbal tea shop in Narrowsburg, NY so you always get the freshest, most potent calendula available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is calendula safe during pregnancy?
Calendula taken by mouth is generally not recommended during pregnancy, since traditional use is associated with uterine activity and the safety data is limited. Topical calendula is more commonly considered acceptable, but please consult your healthcare provider before using calendula in any form while pregnant.

Is calendula good for skin?
Calendula has a long, traditional and research-backed reputation for topical skin comfort, often used in salves and oils for minor irritation. Topical use is generally considered safe for most people, aside from those with a ragweed or daisy-family allergy.

Can I drink calendula tea?
Yes, calendula tea is a traditional preparation, with a bright golden color and a gentle, slightly bitter flavor. Many people drink it for general wellness or blend it with chamomile or lavender for a more rounded flavor. As noted above, avoid drinking it during pregnancy.

Will calendula bother my allergies?
If you're allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, daisies, or other plants in the Asteraceae family, you may also react to calendula. Always do a small patch test for topical use, and consult your healthcare provider if you have known plant allergies before trying it internally.

What's the difference between calendula and ornamental marigolds?
Calendula (Calendula officinalis), sometimes called pot marigold, is a different plant from the bright orange ornamental marigolds (Tagetes species) commonly grown in vegetable gardens.
